Fresh snow laced the landscape this morning resembling a bridal veil. In the beams of headlights tiny flakes came to life dancing and glittering in the air before melting on my windshield. The road was vacant and quiet. Odd how leaving few minutes early changes the traffic motion. I drove relaxed, with no thoughts occupying my mind.
Right before I reached a bend in the street a bright glow caught my eye. What could it be? It seemed to be brighter as I came closer and I was so transfixed to its spark that once I realized what it was I jumped in my seat and swirled my car to avoid it.
The kitty was lying on its side with the head tilted so as if expecting a loving hand. Her eyes wide open and waiting for the break of day were reflecting the light like a precious jewel.
The road ahead became blurred and with trembling shoulders I left a portion of my heart with the furry little body. My only comfort was believing that she is in kitty heaven happy and playful, sharing cat nips with Spunky whom I still miss so much, it hurts.
