Lemon Lavender Martini

IMG_0433P

If I had to pick one favorite drink (I’m not a big drinker, mind you) it would be a martini. Dry, dirty, shaken – you name it. It accommodates any of my moods and if I can’t decide, I let the bartender surprise me. The last surprise, and that’s an understatement, was this lemon lavender martini. The flavor is truly relaxing. You guys, it is so good you have to try it! Just be cautious, not every essential oil is safe for internal consumption. I get my supply from doTerra and I learned a lot about their many beneficial uses through my daughter who swears these are the best thing next to warm water. If you’re interested in what they can do for you and to order go here and for questions email livepurely1@gmail.com

Ingredients:
Serves 1

3 oz. Vanilla Vodka
½ fresh squeezed Lemon Juice
1 tablespoon Lavender Simple Syrup
For Lavender Simple Syrup:
½ cup Water
½ cup of Sugar
2-5 drops Lavender Essential Oil (doTERRA recommended or other oil safe for internal consumption)

Directions:

First make the syrup:  Heat water and sugar till sugar dissolves. Remove from heat. Add essential oils and cool completely before adding to lemon martini.

Fill a cocktail shaker with crushed ice. Add the vanilla vodka, lemon juice and lavender syrup. Shake vigorously for 20 seconds. Strain liquid into chilled martini glass. You can add lavender flower (mine are out of season) or lemon slice as garnish or even rim the glass with sugar.

You could also add lemon essential oil too and if you add peppermint it would make it the allergy treatment. Ok, I’ll stop telling you the benefits of essential oils. For now, ha!

This sounds like a super soothing drink! Lemon/lavender is one of my favorite scent combinations, I bet drinking it would be amazing.

I agree, it is so soothing it puts me right to sleep, lol. But joking aside I love lavender too and a drop of the oil on the pillow does wonders as a sleeping aid.
