Thursday Favorite Things 187

You know you’re old when you start noticing and enjoying different bird and flower species. That’s happening to me. To be honest, it’s been going on for few years. I started my birding lifer list and I anticipate every new bloom in my backyard. I’m telling you, this is serious business here. I didn’t always get this excited about flora and fauna. That’s what happens when you’re about to turn half a century old. But, as Victor Hugo said: “Forty is the old age of youth; fifty is the youth of old age.”

This week I’m sharing my favorite flower. Last year I bought different species of tulip bulbs from the best place one can get tulips – Holland, Michigan and I cannot tell you how happy I was to find this one, named after my hometown – Banja Luka!!! Isn’t it just gorgeous?

Thank you for the party, Jas! Your tulips are stunning, and how meaningful that they were named for your home town! I am a new fan of your lovely Facebook page (from Joy McElroy so it will “count” for you) (silly Facebook). There are so many things I need to see at the party- thank you! 🙂

Your post made me chuckle a little. I’m not there with the birds yet but I’ve always had an appreciation for flowers. I love tulips, they’re so clean and elegant looking. This one is gorgeous. I have to get myself to Holland, Michigan one of these days when the tulips are in bloom. ~Cynthia

Thanks, Cynthia. They have a week long tulip festival beginning of May each year. It is really nice and SOOOOO many tulips to see (and buy, so I’m skipping this year because I spend too much money, lol)

Debi, me too but it’s not like we have a choice, though. Much better than the alternative, I guess, lol. Hugs to you my sweet blogger friend!
