I love romance. I’m a sucker for it. I am into all that sappy stuff – a surprise dinner, breakfast in bed and nice flowers…My husband proposed to me on Valentine’s Day at the nicest restaurant in town. They had a photographer and were handing red roses to the ladies. I was smitten already. We got our picture taken and ordered fancy dinner. He took out a box of Sweethearts Candy and was lining them one by one on the table. They read this (this is the original picture):
He then went on one knee and said the sweetest things anyone had ever said to me but I didn’t hear any of it, so I have to trust his word. My heart was pounding in my ears loudly and I couldn’t believe what was happening, but I pulled it together and said YES. I haven’t regretted it a bit.
I know Valentine’s Day is some weeks away and do not tell me it is overrated and it’s a Hallmark holiday. I do believe we should surprise our sweethearts every now and then to show them how special they are, but Valentine’s Day should and cannot be skipped. Do something simple like these tiny pancakes and you will sure get brownie points (if you are in need of some). Everyone knows how to make pancakes, right? From scratch, out of box…just add some red food coloring to the batter and bake it in a shape of a heart. I simply used Pampered Chef’s cheese cutter but cookie cutter would do the job just as well. Be creative, no recipe directions are necessary here. You need red or pink pancakes, maple or other favorite syrup, and of course your Valentine. Love and be loved.
