The longest month of the year finally came to an end. We survived it! It can only get better from here, or at least that’s what I keep telling myself.
To make January less dreadful I thought we could play a little game. I started this cooking challenge hoping that we will have fun, meet new people, make new friends, and share our favorite recipes with a new audience. But alas, we only got 3 submissions. Perhaps camaraderie has no value and people only play if you pay?
I’m not trying to be negative Nancy, but I can’t say that I was surprised.
See my last post on etiquette. I get it. It’s a tough world out there and we all have to pay our bills. Whatever it takes.

So, who is the winner?
Let’s first see what they cooked up using Gorgonzola, the ingredient for January and celebrate them:
The name alone makes my mouth water. Fun fact: Ann HATES blue cheese. With all the strange (to me) ingredients she uses in her Asian dishes, she has never cooked with Gorgonzola. But, she decided to “push her culinary boundaries” or just to humor me. Either way, I admire her bravery and appreciate her yummy recipe which I have to make, pronto!
Andrea G. made yummy appetizers with zucchini and bacon, then topped them with Gorgonzola and let it melt in the oven. Mmm, finger food at its best! I love how easy is to make, so be sure to save her recipe Zucchini Maple Bacon & Gorgonzola Appetizer for upcoming game parties.
Here we have Blue Cheese Burger With Fig Jam submitted by Patti from Garden Matter. She shared this recipe on her blog earlier (you can submit old recipes and more than one). Would you just look at this master piece? Blue cheese and fig jam is a popular combination. I’m drooling all over my screen. Big juicy burger with blue cheese is all I want right now. Don’t you?
It looks like we have an appetizer, an entrée , and (almost) dessert. I think it’s fabulous and, quite frankly, I can’t pick a winner.
However, the host for February challenge is Ann. I will be keeping track of new hosts and ingredients here where you can also find instructions on how to play. Let me know if you have any questions. Can’t wait to see your ingredients and to play along!
Here is my contribution to the game. I made the best cheese quiche I ever had and the recipe has a special meaning to me.
