My Thursday Favorite Things

ATJ stats

Welcome to this week’s Thursday Favorite Things!

Jetpack sent me a nice summary of my 2015 year in blogging. Chances are you got one too if you are a blogger. I’m not big on keeping an eye on my stats but, nevertheless, it’s nice to have an overview of my best work and my fans. It couldn’t come at a better timing – you see, All that’s Jas is taking a break from The Thursday Favorite Things Blog Hop and also from blogging for a while. You can still linkup with our hostess Katie or other co-hostesses and tell them I sent you.

Why the break? It’s in my name – All that’s Jas. There are many things I like to do (writing and photography to name just a few) but lately all Jas has been doing, for the most part, was recipes. My other interests have been shoved in a corner waiting their turn for when I have time.

Sure you have heard me complain about the time (or a lack thereof) before? Since the beginning of a new year is popular for resolutions, I’m deciding to shift my priorities and pursue my other interests. I will be taking classes too. I’m excited about new possibilities. You understand, right?

Although my stats have improved from last year’s, my numbers are not nearly worth reconsidering. So, whether you were my loyal follower because you liked my recipes or because you’re my family or a friend, I want to thank you for your support and urge you to stop in occasionally. Cooking is my passion and I know I’ll still share a recipe or two. Remember, I’m taking a break not quitting!

My Thursday Favorite Things

You, my readers, are my favorite this week.

Crunchy Numbers:

The concert hall at the Sydney Opera House holds 2,700 people. My blog was viewed about 53,000 times in 2015. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 20 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

The busiest day of the year was April 29th with 637 views. The most popular post that day was Meatballs Stroganoff.

That is a very tasty dish, if I may say so myself.

Attractions in 2015:

Some of your most popular posts were written before 2015. Your writing has staying power! Consider writing about those topics again.

Perhaps I will – in an e-cookbook. Wait and see 🙂

How did they find me?

The top referring sites in 2015 were:

Interesting fact, indeed.

Where did they come from?

Unbelievable 146 countries in all! Most visitors came from The United States. Canada & Australia were not far behind. Here’s a list of the most visitors. The page was too long to list them all. There were some countries listed I’ve never even heard of.

Thanks for sharing! My most popular referring site was Twitter followed by comments on other blogs, so shows I’ve got a ton of work to do on photography till I can grace Pinterest and Food Gawker like you do! Your photography is gorgeous! Happy New Year!

So sweet of you to say, Martin! Don’t sell yourself short. You can do it, I don’t see anything wrong with your photography. Pinterest has no rules and Foodgawker had rejected me numerous times before accepting my photos but they always tell you why and that’s how you learn. Even still, some of my photos are not up to their standard. Oh, well…Thanks for stopping in and Happy New Year!

Jas, I am saddened to think that you will be taking a break, but at the same time happy for you since you will be able to purse your other passions. Good luck to you this coming year, I wish you all the best and may you achieve whatever you want. May you have a great 2016!!

Sweet Mary! Don’t be sad, I’ll be still around just not in the same capacity. I spent all year learning this blogging trade, keeping up with the posting schedule and trying to do better. The results are there, according to Jetpack. But along the way, I forgot to stop and recharge my batteries by doing something else. Blogging consumed all my time and then some. I want it to be fun, not a chore. At the end, I couldn’t find the time to visit all the blogs that linkup with us and I felt guilty. It looks like I don’t care, but I do. I don’t see it as a way to get my numbers up and promote my blog, I see it as a community where we make bloggy friends, interact, learn and support each other. If I can’t do it the right way, I won’t do it at all. I, myself, do not like when I keep visiting a blog, leave comments and get ignored. That’s why I always respond to all comments, unless they got to spam folder and I deleted it by accident. I’ll keep in touch on Facebook and other social media platforms. For 2016, I’m wishing you everything you always wanted! Hugs

Ok then, as long as you are happy. I also made a decision early on, to not chase numbers but to also enjoy the community which is so special. I am thankful to have met you and I know we will continue to meet up on FB! 🙂
